Introduction
The Bachelor of Nursing Sciences at the faculty of nursing in Elsheikh Abdulla Elbadri University would be offered as a block programme to prepare a graduate with capacity of providing leadership in professional nursing practice, nursing education, nursing and health care administration and in nursing research.
The graduate will utilize his/her skills based on knowledge derived from theory, practice, and evidence based on research, and in relation to emerging health needs of a changing Sudanese society. The graduate of the proposed programme will be capable of functioning effectively in a variety of health care settings: promotive, preventive, curative and rehabilitative.
The proposed nursing curriculum courses include intensive training in theory and practical placements.
The curriculum will be frequently reviewed and appropriate changes will be made in line with new trends in health care in Sudan.
The Bachelor Degree of Nursing Sciences Award:
The bachelor degree of nursing sciences will be awarded to the students who satisfy all the requirements of the Bachelor Award.
The honor Degree of Nursing Sciences Award:

Rehabilitation of nurses who are characterized by high quality performance in the progress of the profession locally, regionally and globally and are able to provide preventive and treatment services concerned with the community as a whole to carry out nursing research based on the solution of health problems based on competitiveness in the labor market.
Justification
The establishment of the Bachelor of Nursing Programme is justified because it aims to fulfill the following:
To establish educational and training programme capable of qualifying adequate numbers of nurses to remedy the acute shortage in qualified professional nurses.
To build an educational structure that focuses on skillful clinical practice that leads to better nursing care.
Graduates of the bachelor of nursing with honours may enter graduate professional development programme in healthcare systems.
Graduates are prepared to undertake postgraduate research and activities and gain professional access to postgraduate courses.
Programme objectives
General objectives: –
The graduate to be able to use the basic science, behavioral and social skills applied to provide nursing care integrated prevention and rehabilitation in accordance with physical, psychological and social needs in the cases of health and disease.
Specific objectives:
– Apply skills of critical thinking using a problem solving, and evidence-based practice approaches.
– Function as an effective nurse teacher, nursing and health care administrator and practitioner in a variety of healthcare settings.
– Collaborate with other health professionals and the community for the purpose of promoting, maintaining and restoring the health of individuals, families and communities.
– Develop and implement relevant educational and community programme that promote a healthy lifestyle, self-worth, individual, and community responsibility, and a holistic approach to health care.
– Analyze, utilize, and carry out research, assess new technologies and apply relevant findings in different health care settings.
– Apply role model values by reflecting Sudanese culture, basis and ethics both in the community and in the delivery of health care services.
Admission Requirements
Admission to nursing education must follow successful completion of the secondary school education, with qualifications equivalent to those required by the Ministry of Higher Education entry criteria.
Students are required to complete the 156 credit hours of the programme. The plan of the eight semester’s programme is as follows:

In these semesters the students receive a number of courses which include theoretical, lab practice, clinical practice and flied training. Each course has certain number of Credit hours during the week. the credit hours system is calculated on base of:
– One theory teaching hour = one credit hour
– Two lab teaching hour = one credit hour
-Three clinical practice hour = one credit hour
-Four field practice hour = one credit hour
The total of credit hours of general bachelor degree is 156
Courses are assessed during and at the end of each semester.
The student will not be transferred to the next year unless he/she pass the courses of the two semesters.
After the students have successfully completed the prescribed curriculum the graduate will be awarded the degree of B.Sc. general in nursing.
Academic system:
The Faculty offers bachelor degree (honor), after completing the specified Duration and fulfilling all the requirements designed for each course in the corresponding programme.
There quirked length of study for the award of bachelor degree is five academic years (10 semesters) for honor degree.
The academic year comprises of two semesters, each of which has a maximum duration of fourteen weeks not including reading week and examinations.

The honor degree of nursing sciences will be awarded to the students who earned a degree very good grade (3.00 and above) in general bachelor and satisfy the all the requirements of the honor
The total credit hours for bachelor honor is 186 hours
English languages are used as teaching median the Faculty.

This curriculum is based on the competencies needed from the graduates.
The educational outcomes indicate the cumulative learning on graduation.
Students & staff are guided by these outcomes throughout the programme.
The curriculum is student centered which offers active participation & practice self-learning as much as he /she can do so.
The types of evaluation:
1- Formative evaluation:
Continuous evaluation through- out the course to ensure the achievement of students’ knowledge or skills and it is not for giving grades.
2- Summative evaluation:
At the end of the semester to ensure the achievement of the academic objectives or whether the programme produced the desired outcomes and to give grades to the students so that to take decision about their ranking, transferring, repeating…etc.
Continuous assessment (40%) includes mid-term exam, Homework, tests, quizzes, practical assignments.

Examination Regulations
These regulations should be read together with the general examination regulations.
The student who is absent from 25% or more of the course time will not be allowed to sit for the exam of the course.
In the practical courses the student mark of the course is composed of 20-30 % to term work and 70- 80% to the final examination.
The final examination mark is 40% for the theory and 60% for the practical in nursing courses.
In all practical and clinical nursing courses, the student is required to satisfy the examiners in the theoretical and clinical or practical components independently.
